Drag Me Down - One Direction

One Direction hold the hearts of thousands of fans, spanning all ages, many of whom have followed them since the band formed on the talent show X Factor. Since the departure of Zayn earlier in the year I think we were all interested to see how the band would continue, and they seem to be taking this chance to change their sound.

The band have always been able to produce hit singles and although not everyone likes the people, they do make some undeniably brilliant songs like 'What Makes You Beautiful' and 'Little Things'. This song is definitely a development from that sound, it takes a more rock approach and we have moved away from the poppy-electronic boy-band sound that has worked so well for them.

Arguably this is a dangerous move away from a formula that has won them so many dedicated fans, but this fan-base will support any form of music they decide to make. And as far as I'm concerned, I think this could be a better move for them. 'Drag Me Down' is a brilliant song, it makes you want to sing along and dance around the room. I also think it showcases their voices much better, they really suit the sound and I can't wait to hear what comes next and whether they are sticking with this sound now.

As you can see, the video is literally out of this world; it really fits the sound and feel of the song. All bands and artists, no matter how successful, need to evolve and change their sound in some way. I think this evolution feels really organic and will really work for the band, with the departure of Zayn this change helps set it apart. It almost feels like we're listening to a different band - and I want to hear more.
